I was teaching robotics today at a new school and the 6th graders were timing their cars to determine the velocity.\u00a0 I started to tell them to use the second hand of the classroom clock to time their cars going 10 feet.\u00a0 Then I noticed that the clock’s second hand was gone, like many school clocks.\u00a0 So I got really nervous because I had no plan B especially because I was not at my home school.\u00a0 All the kids spontaneously offered to get their cell phones, which had timers.\u00a0 It’s interesting that we have all this technology in schools that sits in backpacks but I was glad to put it to use.\u00a0 It really saved the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
