{"id":430,"date":"2012-05-03T13:39:03","date_gmt":"2012-05-03T13:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/?p=430"},"modified":"2012-05-03T13:46:36","modified_gmt":"2012-05-03T13:46:36","slug":"kindergarten-estimation-and-measurement-with-beebots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/?p=430","title":{"rendered":"Kindergarten Estimation and Measurement with BeeBots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a great estimation and measurement lesson for K kids that uses BeeBots.\u00a0 Kids first estimate the distance between two marks of some kind (I use masking tape).\u00a0 There are a number of these around the room (usually 8 or 9).\u00a0 The lesson works great and it is so exciting to see students start to estimate the BeeBot steps needed to get from point A to point B.\u00a0 They will estimate visually, use their hands, and use the BeeBots to estimate.\u00a0 The difficulty has always been capturing their work.\u00a0 I like to be able to see how they did on their estimating and measuring after the lesson is over.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard to check in with the whole class during the actual lesson, especially repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p>Kids have had trouble with the workpaper I created for them.\u00a0 It looks like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimationOld.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-435\" title=\"BeeBotEstimationOld\" src=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimationOld.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"792\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimationOld.jpg 612w, https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimationOld-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the new and improved paper.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-436\" title=\"BeeBotEstimation\" src=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"792\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimation.jpg 612w, https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BeeBotEstimation-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope the new formatting will make the writing task much easier for kids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have a great estimation and measurement lesson for K kids that uses BeeBots.\u00a0 Kids first estimate the distance between two marks of some kind (I use masking tape).\u00a0 There are a number of these around the room (usually 8 &hellip;
