{"id":1461,"date":"2011-05-31T09:43:14","date_gmt":"2011-05-31T16:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jheffernan.com\/wordpress\/?p=439"},"modified":"2011-05-31T09:43:14","modified_gmt":"2011-05-31T16:43:14","slug":"mixing-blocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kidsengineer.com\/?p=1461","title":{"rendered":"Mixing Blocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jheffernan.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DSC_7399.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-441\" title=\"DSC_7399\" src=\"http:\/\/jheffernan.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DSC_7399-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>I tend to be on the neat (read OCD) side and I will, many times, ask my son to clean up one set of toys before starting a new one.\u00a0 I have seen, in the past, that he will often mix up blocks or other toys of one type with another so I have tried to be more flexible about it.\u00a0 Recently, he made a racetrack of all kinds of different materials, including train tracks, musical instruments, and Bakugon cards.\u00a0 It&#8217;s interesting to me how, we as adults, don&#8217;t think naturally of mixing things up like this.\u00a0 However, for a 4 year old, there is no apparent barrier to mixing things up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jheffernan.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DSC_7397.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-442\" title=\"DSC_7397\" src=\"http:\/\/jheffernan.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DSC_7397-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I tend to be on the neat (read OCD) side and I will, many times, ask my son to clean up one set of toys before starting a new one.\u00a0 I have seen, in the past, that he will often &hellip;
